GREEN SCHOOL | We are proud to announce that St. Mark School has achieved certification as a 2013 Maryland Green School. We were re-certified in 2017. This was accomplished by the hard work of St. Mark School students, parents, faculty and staff, as well as the support of St. Mark Church and members of the parish community.  The program is administered through the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education.  The Maryland Green Schools Award Program recognizes Maryland schools that include environmental education as a context for learning in all subject and grade levels, model best management practices at the school and help solve community environmental issues.

At. St. Mark we have chosen the four following Best Practices as our focus for the Green School Program:

  1. Water Conservation

  2. Energy Conservation

  3. Solid Waste Reduction

  4. Habitat Restoration

Studying and exploring these four areas we provide authentic and concrete learning experiences for all students and engage them in taking action to solve the identified issues.

We are delighted with this recognition of the efforts of the St. Mark School community to follow the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi and be good stewards of God's beautiful gift of creation.

St. Mark School has also been named a National Wildlife Federation Eco-School.
